On the other side of the hotel are the impressive Vittorio Emanuele theatre and the church of Cristo il Re. Built to a design by the architect Samonà, the Hotel dello Stretto is also one of the best examples of 1950s architecture in the city. Those taking the ferry to Calabria or the Eolian Islands will appreciate the closeness of this hotel to the port. The hotel is also set on one of the main roads out of Messina, meaning that other parts of Sicily are easily accessible. When you return to the hotel you can sample the fresh fish dishes on offer in the restaurant and try some carefully selected Sicilian wines.
